6y-5=-3(2y+1)
surrely by now u have realised how to solve these question?
nope. alegbra loses me as soon as i open the book
the reason i have been supplying working out in my responses ... is so u can try a different question whilst following the steps taken to solve it
6y-5=-6y-3 12y=2 y=1/6
see how jhonyy has expanded the brckets first ... this is always the first step.
6y-5= -6y - 3, 12y = 2, y = 1/6
yes i get that and thank you for trying but i really dont understand math whats so ever
after this u need to subtract/add different things to both sides
angea .. tell me how would u solve this for x... 2x = 6
divide 2 by both sides?
correct ... it becomes 2x/2 = 6/2 now on the left side the twos cancel on the fractionto 1 and 6/2 to 3 giving x=3
but if i had 2x -4 = 6 then we would first have to ADD 4 to both sides, (adding so we can get rid of the negative term - because we cannot add a number and x together)
yes, thats simple. but equations like the one stated above loses me
when u understand it it becomes all manipulation
2x +2=x here we have an x on both sides ... so we need to subtract an x ill write out exactly what im going to do 2x-x+2 = x-x (this is still equal because we did it to both sides) becoming x+2=0 now sunbtract 2 from both sides similar to before to get: x=-2
still simple enough that i get it. lol
well this is only one step shigh of what your questions are asking ... the only thing different is that your Q's have brackets in them, can you expand brackets?
2(x+3)=x
u need to multiply everything within the brackets by 2 giving: 2x +6 = x this is now the same as before ... the key with algebra is to understand that what u are doing with big equations is just using a lot of small manipulations to get a result
no sir lol
ahh so its expanding brackets that u need (lol and sir? im only 19)
well brackets are expanded by multiply everything within the brackets by whatever number is out the front ie: 2(x+1) now this is the same as 2(x) +2(1) giving 2x + 2
sorry ive got to go ... if u still have a question ill b bak in about 2 hrs so just leave it on this thread
oh sorry. lmfao. just second nature to say sir
thanks for all your help :)
it was np ... im studiiing to b a teacher to this is good practice
oh thats good. i wanted to be one but where i am the teachers get paid like crap -_-
