why is scale so important in understanding biology?
scale as in determining measurement? when evaluating biology, you have to take dimensions, observations, etc. and you may need to convert between metric systems. celsius/fahrenheit. if that is what you mean. so they knowledge we obtain is translation-able. not sure if that is a word. lol
check out this page- it has a neat slide/animation that is perfect for answering this. http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/begin/cells/scale/
It's also important because of how much information the study of biology covers... One can study evolutionary biology, which can span thousands of years, while a cellular biologist is studying, well, cells. Knowing the scale of what branch of biology you are dealing with is necessary. I think there are a lot of answers to this question though. Hope that helps!
