okay here is another one I am having trouble with, need help please and must show all work, thanks!! -8z - (10-2z)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-8z-10+2z -10-6z

OpenStudy (amistre64):

which part, or concept, are you having the issue with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all of it, I am in Pre-algebra......and relearning after 30+ years!!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

all of it is a rather broad statement and would imply that you need to be taught number theory and a whole mess of other basic stuff

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what about it makes sense then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see this http://www.shmoop.com/pre-algebra/

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how about this, lets assume z=1 and just take it out of the equation -8 - (10-2) ; does this look more doable?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, I am in Pre-Algebra at the College level in an on-line school, that just started on 9/7, so it is an excellerated class.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

hence the pre algebra question as opposed to matrix and integrations ... right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes to ? without the z's

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or since it is two negatives it would make it 8?
