Multiply across 4/5 * -48 -192/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4/5 times f +60=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4/5 * f+60?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4/5*f+60 4/5f=-60 f=-60*5/4 f=-300/4 f=-75

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you, what about this one? 79\[\left( m-1 \right)\]=-63

OpenStudy (anonymous):

79(m-1)=-63 distribute the 79 through 79m-79=-63 79m=13 m=13/79

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you understanding how to do this better?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, that is what iI have been doing, but I have to check it by pluging in the number for 'm' and that is what i am stuck on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok, it does make it harder when it is a fraction, but in this we want the left side to =the right side. That is how we know we got the right answer. 79(13/79-1)=-63 79(13/79-79/79)=-63 79(-63/79)=-63 79's cancel -63=63

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1=79/79, you need that to understand. I found teh common denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay it all makes sence now! thank you so much.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay I am glad!!! YOu are welcome!!!
