OpenStudy (dboyette):

Critical regions get larger as α values get smaller. T or F, and why or why not?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

which part defines the critical region, Ho or H1? i cant recall.... im pretty sure its H1 tho

OpenStudy (dboyette):

Ho right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

an "a" value is either defined as the area in the tail, or as the zscore associated with it. Im inclined to say its area tho

OpenStudy (amistre64):

id have to look it up on the google to be sure :)

OpenStudy (dboyette):

oh ok good idea thanks

OpenStudy (amistre64):

shaded area IS critical region; so its the H1 now to determine if "a" is the value of the shade or the value of the zscore

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Za is denoted as the test statistic, so "a" itself is the value of the defined area of the critical region

OpenStudy (amistre64):

as the region gets larger; the area increases

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so id say the answer is false

OpenStudy (dboyette):

oh ok it's and increase in bothh

OpenStudy (amistre64):

correct

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you increase the air inside of a balloon .... the balloon expands

OpenStudy (amistre64):

same concepts here

OpenStudy (dboyette):

it makes more sense looking at it like that
