Quick question: are we Americans disadvantaged by helping the less developed countries? Because some people say we have our own problems.

Well yes we are at a disadvantage because we are helping out others when we have a crisis at home, but it is necessary because we are viewed as people who help and if we didn't help we would probably be at a bigger disadvantage.
