Give an example of why division is not commutative.(In Words.)

OpenStudy (jamesj):

if division were commutative it would mean that if x and y are numbers then x divided by y is equal to y divided by x. But that is patently false. For example if x = 1 and y = 2. x divided by y is 1/2; but y divided by x is 2.
