22% of bottled water brands had chemical contaminants above the standard limit. Tap water gets tested for e.coli but bottled water does not.

Did you know that some companies use tap water and purify it a bit more and then sell it with nice pictures of mountains. And you the consumer then buy it.

Though this is generally true, it depends hugely on state or country policies and the rules on bottled water sale in your county of origin. In many places, tap water has other problems that are not treated in that neat little graphic that has gone viral for a while, this includes high chlorine contents, high levels of calcium carbonate, nitrates, sulfites, heavy metal traces, hormones et cetera. Always check water quality reports in a new area before drinking tap water in large quantities.
