Why does the endoplasmic reticulum make sense to be in our bodies?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, look at it like this, our brain is pretty much made of protein and lipids (fat). The endoplasmic reticulum is used in the processing and manufacturing of Proteins(rough E.R) Lipids(Smooth E.R) Without these being made, literally no/few functions would even work in the human body. Hope this is enough information for ya.
