Suppose that 25% of all aluminum cans are recycled each year. If 240,000 aluminum cans are released into the market, after how many years will 43000 or fewer of these can not yet be recycled?

25 percent are recycled each year, so first year out of 240 000 cans only 60 000 are recycled, so then next year 240 000 cans minus 60 000 cans remain, so again find 25 percent out of the 180 000 cans and keep doing so and count the number of years till you find that you end up with 43 000 cans below.
