What allows proteins leaving the golgi apparatus to be transported to the correct destination?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Golgi is a 'C' shaped organelle there are multiple C's so we get this sort of structure 'CCCC' at the end of each one the golgi forms vesicles, little membrane bound sacs that carry the protein or whatever around to the next section of golgi for maturation. http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/cells/golgi/images/golgifigure1.jpg http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/BiologyPages/G/Golgi.gif

Proteins are tagged with a signals sequence so that when they leave the Golgi they are able to go to their correct destination. There are a variety of signals and destinations including the plasma membrane and lysosomes.
