why are stamen and pistils are considered modified leaves?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A normal leaf is assigned some specific functions like Photosynthesis and transpiration. When a leaf is needed for a more specific job, it needs to change its structure. The leaves which are performing these additional functions having changed their looks are called as modified leaves. In respect to this, stamen and pistils are sexual organs and definitely serve a unique function, therefor they would need to modify their structure making them modified leaves. I hope this helps.
