I'm dying here - help!! allyson and adrian have decided to connect their ankles with a bungee cord; one end is tied to each person's ankle. the cord is 30 ft long but stretches to 90 ft. they both start from the same location. allyson moves 10 ft/sec and adrian moves 8 ft/sec in the directions indicated. a) where are the two girls after 2 seconds b) after 2 seconds will the slack in the cord be used up? c)determine when the bungee cord first becomes tight, where are the girls located? d) when will the bungee cord first touch the corner of the building? (using similar triangles)

so what are the "directions indicated?"

op sorry - i'll upload a picture

For the first part, multiply each ones rate of movement by 2,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alison would move 20, Adrian would move 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then a^2+b^2=c^2 to see if c is greater than 30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for part c you will have to find when c=30, using the ratio of 8:10 for a and b
