What does it mean by saying 2-phase supply or 3-phase supply of voltage
there is never a 2 phase supply..there are 1 phase supplies and 3 phase supplies...1 phase supply has only one alternating voltage...where as the three phase supply has 3 alternating voltages...with a phase difference of 120 degrees between them..( this wil appear on the x-axis of the graph)
Can you explain where do we use this 1-phase supply and 3-phase supply and why ?
1 phase supplies are used in domestic applications...where as 3 phase supplies are used in large plants..( industrial wiring)...3 phase supply has many advantages...but also impractical to use for domestic use as it is expensive..it has 4 wires...three phase wires and one nuetral...where as 1 phase has just one line wire...and the ground...3 phase can take more loads..( fr eg..1 phase supply cannot handle 2-3 air conditioners at once...3 phase can)
