how do i find the greatest common factor ?? please help

Greatest common factor is the greatest factor that divides the given numbers. Let we have 2 number . 1. Find the prime factors of each number. 2. Multiply those factors both numbers have in common.

if we have 9=3*3 12=2*2*3 - so than the greatest common factor will be 3*3*2*2=36
