Two boys with two-way radios that have a range of 2 miles leave camp and walk in opposite directions. If one boy walks 3 mph and the other walks 6 mph, how long will it take before they lose radio contact?

I think you have to use d=rt

?

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

Since they are walking in opposite directions the net speed is 3mph+6mph which = 9mph. If the radio range is two miles, you just need to see how long it takes them to go 2 miles at 9mph. Therefore, 60minues/9mph = 6.67 minutes per mile Finally, multiply that times 2miles to get: 13.34 minutes.

they want to know how many hours
