is it 8 (the length of AB ? ) if so : 8*8 - area of square 4 - will be the radius of the circle pi*16 will be the area of the circle 64 - 16pi = 13.734..

The shaded region is the area of the square minus the area of the circle. The square has side length s=8 and the circle has radius r=4. Using known area formulas:$$A = s^2 - \pi r^2$$$$A = (8)^2 - \pi (4)^2$$$$A=64-16\pi$$
