What did the proclamation of 1763 declare?
that the colonists couldn't settle past the mississippi river. it was enacted by the british parliament b/c after the french and indian war and the french presence in north america was relinquished, the native americans didnt have any european allies and would likely attack the colonists as they were encroaching on their territory. britain was in a lot of debt from the war and instead of fighting more wars with the natives they thought they could avoid the problem all together by constraining the colonists to teh east of the mississippi. obviously, this didnt go over well with the colonists, who had already started settling west
The Proclamation of 1763 was an English law enacted after gaining territory from the French at the end of the French and Indian War. It forbade the colonists from settling beyond the Appalachian Mountains. The Colonists were no longer proud to be British citizens after the enactment. The Proclamation of 1763 caused the first major revolt against the British.
