OpenStudy (brittany16):

What number needs to be eliminated to solve this equation? 136 = 24y

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

You need to isolate y So you need to divide both sides by 24 to isolate y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Horrible choice of words. Tell your teacher about it..

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

agreed, but what can you do...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean, you can simply elliminate 24 in order to solve the equation.

OpenStudy (brittany16):

i go to an online school thats the only reson im on this crape just please help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I'm unsure of what it's asking me.. If it's looking for y, it's y =5 2/3 If it's asking for what to remove, it's 24.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

24 needs to be eliminated

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

but what you really need to do is divide both sides by 24 (that's the more accurate version)

OpenStudy (brittany16):

if i elminat 24 then all i have is 136 y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you elliminate 24 it becomes y = 136. So if they say you're wrong, tell them to fix their questions.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

well I assume when you "eliminate" it from the right side, you divide the left side by 24
