x= value of the Denver coin
y= value of the Philadelphia coin
y=(3/2)x
x+y=35 (total value of the two coins)
sub the expression for y into the previous equation:
x+(3/2)x=35
    2x+3x=70
          5x=70
            x=14 (the Denver coin is worth $14)
y=(3/2)x=(3/2)14=21 (the Philly coin is worth $21)
get it?
