Just do the opposite and start from the letter farthest away from 24. 6 divided by 24 8 divided by the quotient. That may not work, but thats how I learned it.

It's just as the people about have said. You seperate the variable, and by that I mean you either work out x or y but substituting a zero. That's how you would get 24/6 or 24/-8
