distribute the coefficients...
3q-15+2q+10
simplify
5q-5
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what does q =
OpenStudy (anonymous):
well from the given information, it cant equal anything. you have to give me an equation with an equal sign.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so would that be no solution ?

its not "no solution" or anything. What you've given me is not an equation, therefore it cannot be solved.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Look at it again and make sure what you have entered here is correct.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It seems like this is a simple distributing equation.
I would say 3q-15+2q+10
= 5q-5
= q-1 if you simplify even further
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh im sorry .. 3(q-5)=2(q-5)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
That is what i thought.
First distribute..
3q-15=2q-10
move...
q=5

Oh okay.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It's the same thing. Go ahead and distribute ok.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thanks

And then subtract from the sides. so you get:
3q-15=2q+10
= q-15= 10
= q= 25 :)
