can somebody tell me how to find the inverse of a function algebraically??

OpenStudy (across):

Swap the variables. E.g., if you have\[y=3x+2,\]to find its inverse, you swap the variables\[x=3y+2,\]and solve for y.

OpenStudy (across):

\[y=\frac{x-2}{3}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

replace x by y and y by x and solve for y to get the inverse
