Is it possible to factorize 0=-96+12x+x^2-(1/3)x^3 ?? If so, how?

Any help would be great, thanks :)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

well i guess you would need to use rational root theorem, using synthetic division to try to factor out +-1, +-2 ...

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

or just graph it to see if it has any integer roots

This is making me think I've done the question wrong (which is helpful in itself, I guess!)... Was trying to find the eigenvalues of a 3x3 matrix :/ graphing it is a good idea - cheers!

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

i see, well i find only 1 real solution, x =- 7.311 there's you eigenvalue :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK then, I will try that - thanks heaps :)
