What Python IDE are you guys using for this course if I may ask?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We use the default IDE that comes with the Python download, IDLE.

ditto - win7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gedit + terminal on ubunut, not ide but it works perfect.

i use the ipython shell + my favourite editor (gvim). works better than idle with matplotlib (plotting library) in my installation (I have python2.6 installed via fink on mac OSX)

hey you can also use pyscripter.

Thanks a lot for the help, ill try them out... I have been having trouble finding one that runs on windows 8. I just recently installed the developers release.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since you have installed the windows 8 developer release, let me tell you there are less chances that you will find softwares for it because it is released to do so.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you cant find IDE for dev. release try something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2Pm9q8eUhw

You could partition your drive & install Ubuntu (a Linux-type OS) along side Windows 8. Ubuntu even comes pre-packed with Python. I suspect you would find lots of solutions for the lack of software that way.

Aptana with pydev plugin
