Alicia’s Restaurant has two types of menu items, “dinner plates” and “light eater skillets.” If a diner wants a “dinner plate,” they get a choice of soup or salad. There are five salad dressings and three types of soup. If they order from the “light eaters” selections instead of a dinner plate, they get a choice of toast, bagel or tortillas. How many different outcomes are possible when ordering at Alicia’s Restaurant?
do we know a choice of dinners too, or do you only get soup or salad?
I don't know that's the whole question i was doing dinner is 3 soups and 5 dressing so = 15
they dont have 13
for the dinner plate (3)(5)=15 choices for the light plate you have 3 choices total choices are 18
18 either
sorry, arithmetic mistake earlier
hmm...
choices are 11, 30, 121, 165
says soup OR salad right?
Right since it says what are the possibilities when ordering
oh yeah, that makes a difference
you googled for the answer?
cheater...
lol video random dude playing guitar
then its just 5(possible salads)+3(possible soups)+3(from the other plate)=11 it seems
thats the only thing that makes since but seems unlikely
yea it right
yeah but the OR in there seems to leave that as the only option...
got it correct but still dont see how
well if it was soup AND salad then the choices would multiply to 15 like you said, then add the OR 3 possibilities from the other plate would be 18. In other words OR means you add the choices. Since it's all this OR that you just add the choices up.
pretty lame explanation, sorry
it makes sense
if it does to you then I guess you're just smart, 'cause I think my explanation sucked.
lol it makes sense to me cause all my things came out as high numbers past 15+ so im guessing your logic is right
random dude playing a guitar? it is arlo guthrie (son of another "random dude", woody guthrie) performing his classic anti war tune "alice's restaurant"
