(-4+1)(x+8)
3x+24
* -3x-24
use the same steps as before nikkiem....and then simplify to get what QED posted
the first term that i would start off with is -4x*x which is going to be -4x to the 2nd power right
(-4+1) = -3 -3(x+8) = -3x-24
There's only 1 x in the equation...so don't add x's :)
so then it would be 5x right ?
no...-4 * x is the same as -4 * 1x which = -4x
Here's what you should get after FOILing: -4x + 1x + 8 -32
which simplifies to -3x-32
so i thought i need like four numbers in there for the answer>
You had 4 terms at the end...but in this case, they could be simplified to 2.
-4x + 1x + 8 -32 => -3x-24
alright thanks but it was still the wrong ans.
Read through this if it's still not clear...it's a quick read: http://www.freemathhelp.com/using-foil.html
