Why are they not graphs of functions of x: a) |y|=x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

. thats not a function. why? because (1,-1) and (1,1). functions have a 1 to 1 correspondence of x to y values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because for each value of x, there are more than one y value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that because it's an absolute function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and no.
