is it (x-xy-1)/(1+x) then u divde the whole thing by y, or, (x-xy-) divide by (1+x)/y?

multiply both sides by y
(y(x-xy-1))/(1+x)
(xy-xy^2-y)/(1+x)

You can't really simplify after that.
