I have a piece of string 7 1/2 inches in length. I need the fabric to be 3/8 inch in length and that have the same width as the strip. I need a number sentence that can be used to calculate how many 3/8 pieces i can cut from the 7 1/2 inch string.

Number sentence? I assume that's just a sentence telling you what you can do? In that case: You can figure out how much 3/8 pieces you can cut from the 7 1/2 inch string by dividing 15/2 (7 1/2 ) by 3/8. Which will give you 20 pieces.

ok thanks thats what i got , just making I divide the fractions and not multiply. But yes all it wanted was a formula to work it out.
