A basketball team has eight players. What is the probability that at least two of them were born on th same day of the week?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

hmmm ...... each player has the probability of 1/7

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Actually, just think this through. 8 players, 7 days. Is it possible that they are all born on different days?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1 - (C(8,0) (1/7)^0 (6/7)^8 +C(8,1) (1/7)^1 (6/7)^7) maybe?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

If they were all born on different days, then there would be at least 8 days in a week. But they're aren't. Hence ...
