ok saifoo!!! you ready?
appendix f?
yup :)
Suppose you are an event coordinator for a large performance theater. One of the hottest new Broadway musicals has started to tour and your city is the first stop on the tour. You need to supply information about projected ticket sales to the box office manager. The box office manager uses this information to anticipate staffing needs until the tickets sell out. You provide the manager with a quadratic equation that models the expected number of ticket sales for each day x. ( is the day tickets go on sale).
you have it or should i copy and paste it all?
Thats easy
Let numbers try that! :D
C'mon numbers answer it.
tickets = -.2x^2+12x+11
Does the graph of this equation open up or down? How did you determine this?
GOT IT a. 0 = -0.3x^2 + 12x + 14 x = -1.134489979... or 41.13448998... x ≈ 41 (reject x ≈ -1) The 41st day. 1.) The graph is opening downward, so it has a maximum point near the middle. 2.) x = -b/(2a) = -12/(2 • -0.3) = 20 After 20 days, it reaches a peak. 3.) -0.3(20^2) + 12(20) + 14 = 134 4) The vertex is (20, 134). The x-coordinate represents the day on which the maximum occurs; the y-coordinate represents the maximum value. (Where are parts e and f?) a. There are two solutions, because a parabola of this type has two x-intercepts. b. The solutions are given above. The solution, x ≈ 41, represents the last day the tickets were sold. The solution, x ≈ -1, does not make sense, because you can't sell tickets before they go on sale.
Wrong! HAHA.
REALLY!!!
yeah, those aren't the right numbers
Darn.. xD I totally guessed!
HAHA.
I totally failed >.< I takke back what i said!
lol
LOL.
take*
rofl
:| oh gawd I just -.- ruined my interest
ROFL
Im like blushing right!!!
now*
lol
looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
>.<" this is .... oh gawd im leavin this page!!
Haha.
. Describe what happens to the tickets sales as time passes. c. Use the quadratic equation to determine the last day that tickets will be sold. Note. Write your answer in terms of the number of days after ticket sales begin. d. Will tickets peak or be at a low during the middle of the sale? How do you know? e. After how many days will the peak or low occur? f. How many tickets will be sold on the day when the peak or low occurs? g. What is the point of the vertex? How does this number relate to your answers in parts e. and f? h. How many solutions are there to the equation ? How do you know? i. What do the solutions represent? Is there a solution that does not make sense? If so, in what ways does the solution not make sense?
Pixie, do u have email or something? or are u on fb? i wanna talk.
