Betty took a doll she inherited from her grandmother to the antique store. The doll's original price tag says $6.80. The antique store said the doll was worth $84.00. What was the percent increase in price? Round to the nearest hundredth percent.

OpenStudy (stormfire1):

84/6.80 = ~12.3529 which is about 1235.29%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Increase in % = present worth of doll - original price / 100

@abhibookworm: How did you come by that? If I do it your way, I get 77%...which is obviously not right.
