Can't figure out a & c R(x)=9.5x-0.04x^2 C(x)=1.25x+250 a)How many boxes of candy must be sold to maximize revenue? What is max revenue? b) Profit is P(x)=R(x)-C(x). What is the profit function? My answer: -0.04x^2+8.25x-250 c)How many boxes must be sold to maximize profit? What is the max profit?
what level of math?
with calc this is easy. max revenue= R'(x)=0 max profit= P'(x)=0
a) 119 units $564
could you show me the work for a I have no examples on my text for this problem, which is why it's confusing
are you in calc?
college algebra it's not calc
like i said calc makes this problem super easy.
ok r(x)=0 at what two amounts?
i think i have to use the quadratic function... Awww wish i would have the easy way to solve it!
once you find that, it will be exactly half way inbetween them for your max.
use the quad formula to get the zeros
R(x)=0 at x=0 and x=237.5
so the max is going to be exactly halfway between them.
same process for the P(x), find the zeros, find the midpoint.
thank u
