I am having dificutly wwith density and slope. I have to figure out the mass, volume, and density. I have attached the sheet with the question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need help with question 1 a) b) c) & d)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first three questtion you can read directly from the graph: a) 30 g b) 25 ml c) 45 g

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For question d: Density is how much mass there is per volume, that is, if you got X grams in Y mililitres, you have a density of X/Y g/ml

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got a) 35 b) 50 c) 60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you get those results?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I looked at where the dots were OH WAIT ! i think im look at mass !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looking *

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, i have no idea what im doing !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For example, for 40 mL substance A I looked at how high the line was at the 40mL mark, and it seems it is 30g high

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OHHHHHHHHHHH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i still don't get what to do for d) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :P now, see what I wrote before? Density is how much mass there is per volume, that is, if you got X grams in Y mililitres, you have a density of X/Y g/mL, are you following?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Using the previous answers, for example for substance A we have there are 30g in 40 mL, therefore, it has a density of 30/40 g/mL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(or three quarters grams per mililitre)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't you divide or multipy the thing ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, density is mass divided by volume (g/mL)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what substances am I supposed to find the density of ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All three of them :P I did for A, now you can do it for B and C, you just have to divide the respective masses and volumes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank -you ! :}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tell me what you got when you are ready :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

density of the substances a) 0.75 b) 1 c) 1.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I got :) and you will also notice, that those are alse the values of the respective slopes in the graph ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*also

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhhhh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IM SO SMART :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hehehe, cheers, mate, nice work :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOOL, Thanks for the help :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No probs ;)
