When the sun is at an angle of elevation of 32°, a building casts a shadow that's 152 feet from its base. What is the height of the building? Okay, tan(32°)=x/152, x=152*tan(32)... that's what the textbook says too, except they got approx. 95 feet and I got 100 using my calculator. It's not like there's any other way for me to input the info... what the flutter is the problem.

Is your calculator in degree mode?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhh... maybe not but i tried converting it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you have a TI calculator go to mode and change it to degree then retype in the equation. I did it both ways. When the calculator is in radian mode you get 100 but degree mode gives you 95 aprox.

but so what's degree mode the answer is in feet. what's that mean. what's what.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the height will be approximately 95 feet
