What is the function of the cell wall?

OpenStudy (nebi):

It is the outer layer of a plant cell. It helps It protect its body from foreign objects, sort of like your skin. It also takes in nutrients for the cell. The cell wall is selective permeable. It only allows certain things to come into the cell, lets the waste out, but keeps the foreign objects out.
