Find the Length of the arc of the parabola y=4x^2, [0, 1]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright so my answer is \[1/16 [ 8\sqrt{65}+archsinh(8) ]\] however the online program that we use for homework says this is incorrect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm wondering whether or not the hyperbolic function is messing things up, because i'm pretty sure that answer is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The online program doesn't have an option to put hyperbolic functions in

OpenStudy (agreene):

What was the integral that you did to get there? If I'm remembering right \[ArcL=\int\limits_{a}^{b}\sqrt{1+[f'(x)]^2}dx\]and if that is so, I'm not sure how to integrate the resultant.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah that's right

OpenStudy (agreene):

Well, I dont remember all my methods of integration. And I'm not sure how to integrate that. I assume some trig sub would work, but I cant see it at the moment...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

according to wolframa the answer is correct. You should tell your teacher there is a problem with a test at your next class.
