Fun Fact #51: Some animals out there are just as sneaky as we are. There is an African rodent (African crested rat) that uses plant poison, the very same used on arrow tips for elephant hunting by the indigenous peoples and covers its flanks with it. They chew upon the bark of the poison-arrow tree (yeah, big surprise on the name there) and slather the saliva-bark-poison on themselves. When threatened they bare their poison coated sides. This is one hell of a defense strategy that often leaves potential predators sick or dying.
