Evaluate 20 / (6 − 1) • 2 someone help please

OpenStudy (amistre64):

which part is giving you trouble?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just dont understand the whole problem..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And im not sure how to evaluate

OpenStudy (amistre64):

from what youve typed, it looks like it want you to divide 20 by (6-2) and then multiply by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol so easy. first do parenthesis, so it would be 20 / (5) • 2 then do multiplication, so it would be 20 / 10 which the answer would be 1/2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

barring the typo of course

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you do it from left to right; not right to left

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If i simplfy it would be 8 right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes, as long as you posted it correctly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok cause thats what got i wasnt sure.. thanks for helping

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean 2. not 1/2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yep. if there are no paranthesis to group anything together ... you read it left to right in order

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if it had been 20/((6-1)*2) then ello would be correct
