8th grade math please help.... The length of a side of an equalateral triangle is represented by x+5. Represent the primeter of the triangle. oh and solve for x, please explain how you got ur answer and tell me what the lenght is and what is the perimeter...thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perimeter of a triangle is all the sides added together. Equalateral triangle has the same side for all three. So 3(x+5) = perimeter so 3x + 15= perimeter.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3(x+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

agreed unless you are given the total perimeter and you haven't told us.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X=( Perimeter - 15) / 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the lenght

OpenStudy (anonymous):

length of 1 side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well.. all the sides, but it is an equilateral triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the same as the perimeter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know, you tell me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the perimeter is the length of all sides added together so length and perimeter are the same things

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you mean all sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true, thank you for your help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no worries
