I am trying to figure out what is going on algebraically with the example in the picture. why is the ((x+h)^3 cubed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because \[f(x)=x^{3}-12x\] so \[f(x+h)=(x+h)^{3}-12(x+h)\]
