How the Residents of Chambersville Heat Their Houses.. Electric: 22% Wood: 8% Gas: 24% Oil: 36% Other: 10% [Statistics based on a survey of 3,216 households] question: If 10% of all households in Chambersville that heat with oil shifted to heating with wood, what percent would now heat with wood? So the answer is 11.6% but can someone PLEASE explain to me HOW they got this answer?

OpenStudy (gw2011):

Since 10% switched from oil to wood, you would do the following: (0.36)(0.10)=0.036=3.6%. This means that 3.6% switched from oil to wood. Wood therefore is 8%+3.6%=11.6%.
