I really need to understand the law of charges/ charge rule... Please help! It's like I get the Octet rule, but I don't. Could you help me understand it in simple terms?? Thanks!

All magnetic objects have the tendency to repel or attract to one another. Like charges repel one another and unlike charges attract one another. Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_Law_of_electric_charges#ixzz1aAWw0ah1

The octet rule is actually very simple to understand. It states that an element tends to gain, lose or share electrons to get eight electrons in the outermost shell and be stable.

oops i see where this is going now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you asking about the octet rule or the rule of charges?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alice has got answers to both now I guess

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm asking about both!

woot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks guys!! I really appreciate it, I guess I was having trouble understanding the differences between the two.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are related in that having the correct number of electrons makes an atom or molecule neutrally charged that is not positive ( not enough electrons) or negative ( too many electrons )
