WHAT WAS MERCHANTILISM?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe mercantilism is an economic theory that states that a country should export more goods, than it imports to maintain a healthy trade economy. it may be a more in-depth term however

"economic nationalism for the purpose of building a wealthy and powerful state." I think this is a pretty good answer from http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/Mercantilism.html

Merchantilism is the theory stating that the exports of a country should be greater than the number of imports and that the global volume of trade is unchangeable.
