I am confused on mitosis and cytokinesis. Although interphase is said before the start of prophase, G1 of interphase continues after cytokinesis. Is G1 part of the first interphase, or an separate function?

OpenStudy (stmoney):

Interphase is divided into different parts... G1 phase, S or synthesis phase where the DNA is replicated, and the G2 phase. There are checkpoints in interphase to make sure the cell has enough resources to divide before it goes into the M phases or in other words before it goes into mitosis. Hope this helps
