OpenStudy (anonymous):

in 1st Q ans is C as mag. field MUST pass through the nail to magnetise it by aligning its particles(domains, rather) to provide net magnetism in 1 direction...(based on fact that solenoid has mag. field only INSIDE it)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it says 'switch open' so electricity doesn't pass through the coil...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not focussing on values.. but the general ans is that being in parallel combination both resistors' potential diff. across their respective ends is same. and in parallel resistors follow 1/R(net)=1/R1 + 1/R2...does this help???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sry the 2nd ans is of 2nd Q

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm.. does it say that magnet is being pushed or just kept? if 2nd case then same reason and ans is A...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought'bout it..my 1st ans is wrong...take no note of it.
