Can some one give me the functions of the nucleus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The function of the nucleus within a cell is to house chromosomes (DNA). In a eukaryotic cell (animal cells), the DNA may be defined as chromosomes and it is single stranded and covered in a protein known as "histones". The nucleic region of a prokaryotic cell (bacteria), however, entail a "naked" (its called naked since the DNA is not covered by protein), circular DNA.
