OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

it must be like the area of POOL AND SIDEWALK is 143

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

(9+x)(7+x) = 143

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

further solving will give us 2 values, -20 and 4.. So answer is 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get 4 and -20?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

(9+x)(7+x) = 143 Multiply them, 63 + 7x + 9x + x^2 = 143 x^2 + 16x - 80

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

x^2 + 16x - 80 x^2 + 20x - 4x - 80 x(x+20) -4(x+20)=0 (x+20)(x-4) = 0

in online classes you just need the answers man, just insert them and get free. LOL.

yahh i know, i yahoo answer those type of questions haha but these ones i had to show work for so i was S.O.L. unless i had help with em trust me, i know the routine on askin for answers, i have about a semester left and im out, so hopefully by december the class will be over. and i just realized how to do the rest of the equation after you said multiply them, so i feel kinda stupid about that part haha

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Haha, you can ask your problems here, people will help! :)
