What are some applications of Vectors, Matrices, and Linear Algebra?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Vectors are used all over the place. Representations of speed, location and orientation are commonly stored in Vectors for 2d and 3d work. Likewise, Matrices and Linear Algebra are used for the solution of systems of equations using these. In 3D programming, a common occurrence to rotate an object is to multiply that object's orientation matrix by its rotation matrix to find the new orientation after it has been rotated. Systems of equations are solved in Matrix form all the time as well, regardless of what the equations are about. This can be seen in fields like Analytics (statistics type stuff), and Operations Research (think supply management and logistics).
